Artist: Aung Kyaw Htet (b.1965)

Aung Kyaw Htet (b.1965) ( THAVIBU GALLERY, BANGKOK gallery ) - established
HTET, Aung Kyaw (TH)

Aung Kyaw Htet is 40 years old and fast becoming one of the most sought-after Burmese painters internationally. His paintings of Buddhist religious life in Burma often show monks and nuns in a realistic manner, though non-essential objects are omitted in order to focus on the religious aspects. Aung Kyaw Htet paints the faces of monks and nuns in great detail to show their humanity. His works have been purchased by the National Art Gallery in Malaysia for their permanent collection, and he has recently exhibited in Singapore and Hong Kong in addition to regular shows at Thavibu Gallery. Fantastic work!
